India May See Launch of Google Pixel Watch 2, Rumored Features Revealed
Google could finally bring its Pixel Watch to the Indian market this year. Several reports suggest that the Pixel Watch 2 variant could get a date with Indian consumers when it is expected to launch alongside the Pixel 8 series later this year.
Google hasn’t officially shared plans for the Pixel Watch 2 so far, but various leaks and rumors have given us a good idea of the second-generation Pixel smartwatch and how it plans to improve on its predecessor.
The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to launch in both Wi-Fi and LTE variants, and reports suggest the smartwatch has been listed on India’s BIS website, confirming a possible launch in the country.
The new Pixel Watch is likely to use the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip, which should offer longer battery life compared to the first-generation Pixel Watch. Google could use a 1.2-inch OLED screen this time and support ultra-wideband (UWB), which provides better connectivity for wearable devices.
However, all eyes are on Wear OS 4.0, which should be based on Android 13, but the new features should offer better compatibility with other smartwatches on the market, and also appear to compete with WatchOS. The battery size will also increase, but Google needs to better tune the hardware and software to improve battery life.
Google stayed away from the Indian market with premium Pixel phones until it launched the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro in the country last year. However, we didn’t get the Pixel Watch or the new Pixel tablet, but with rumors of a Pixel Watch 2 launch in the country gathering momentum, it’s probably the right time for the company to bring its big guns to consumers. And if the Pixel Watch 2 launches in India this year, we expect the device to be priced around Rs 25,000-30,000, which is closer to the Samsung Galaxy Watch series than the Apple Watch series.
